I am currently booking quite far ahead. This is a friendly reminder to plan your appointments so that you are not disappointed. I am now offering appointments for one Saturday a month.
**UPDATE AS OF FEB 7TH 2025*
Dear Fresh clients and friends,
I have some news to share. Life is throwing me a curve ball and I need to take some time off work in the near future.
Early in December I was told I have a large ovarian cyst. I had been experiencing numbness in my left leg, and some cramping which was investigated further (I’ve been plagued with gynecological problems for years). Early in January it was confirmed I have a large tumour and will need a radical hysterectomy.
I have been diagnosed with a Borderline Ovarian Tumour (low malignant potential), also known as Borderline Ovarian Cancer. My prognosis is good as it was detected early, and is of the non-invasive type. Surgery is an effective treatment for this type of tumour, and very rarely is chemotherapy needed.
I will be off work, and the Studio closed, from February 25th. My actual surgery date is February 27th.
You know me, I will always look for the positives – and learning opportunities – from any situation. I had been meaning to brush up on my Oncology Esthetics training, but wasn’t planning to play such a central role. That being said, I am going to use this time off finish my Essential Oil certificate (near completion) and my lymphatic drainage course, which I’m even more invested in now!
I anticipate that my first day back at Fresh Skincare Studio will be April 27th. I will be more than looking forward to seeing everyone upon my return, and look forward to offering my new ‘Wholistic’ Facial!
Please know I will be fully rested and will be honouring my physical capabilities and work/life balance as I move forward. Taking an extended period away from work is challenging when self-employed. I am grateful for my incredible and loyal clients. I hope that this unforeseen disruption doesn’t change our relationship.
There might be times in the short-term where I need to reschedule appointments (although I try not to), and I truly appreciate your understanding and flexibility.
What’s become clear through this diagnosis is how much I value my work and what immense joy it brings me. I’ve had moments of feeling anxious, but as soon as I came into my studio, setting my intentions for my clients, and being in the best environment, I felt calm.
Thank you for reading my long message. I am open to coffee visits, and please, I’ll need book recommendations, and any Netflix must-watches.
Yours,
Alana Delcourt
